And the Winner is...

The Drawing for Chopper School's Chopper #1 took place at Courtside Grill on Dubuque's West End, and guess who won the $22,000 custom motorcycle? Jim Petersen, guidance counselor at Hempstead! And get this. He bought one ticket at the Superintendent's address at the Grand River Center at the start of the school year. It gets better. Jim didn't have any cash, so he borrowed the money for the ticket from a friend, Dr. Kris Hall, who was the guy who suggested he buy a chance on the chopper in the first place. So when the winning ticket was drawn by Superintendent, John Burgart, at Courtside Grill at a party Friday night, Dr. Kris Hall, who was on hand for the drawing as well, quickly found Jim's number in his cell phone directory and gave him a call. Jim answered the phone from the stands at the Hempstead Homecoming football game.
