Drumline

Dubuque Community School District's LEAP afterschool activities program included drumlines for both Jefferson and Washington Middle Schools.

November 2011

Gary Olsen

Approximate Length 6 minutes

As you can see by this video, music teacher, Deb Stevens, has as much fun as the kids in Drumline. Drumline was among the activities kids could participate in as part of the LEAP Grant funded after-school project aimed specifically at middle school kids to get them more engaged in school.

Studies reveal that students at this critical age who become involved in activities that go beyond just the classroom are more likely to stay in school and are less likely to drop out.
