The Neighborhood Resource Centers

Table Mound School's big event, the Grand Opening Celebration of their Neighborhood Resource Center, is happening on Thursday, February 21st at 5:00 PM. The event marks the fourth Neighborhood Resource Center, the first three are at Prescott Early Childhood Center, Audubon Elementary, and Eisenhower Elementary respectively. Plan to be there, and click on the logo to learn more about the Neighbhorhood Resource Centers Projects which are funded through grant applications submitted by the Dubuque Community School District Foundation.

It's a place where families and neighbors in theEisenhower School neighborhood can explore technology and information resources. The concept ties in nicely with two important objectives of the Dubuque Community School District Foundation:

Providing friendly Access to School Technology and Information Resources. Not only do many families need access to technology, but they need help in navigating through it. At the school building, we now have the equipment and the expertise on hand to provide this guidance.

Making the School the Cultural Center of its Neighborhood. The school building and all of its resources need to be open and involved in its neighborhood. The buildings are fine facilities that could be utilized to improve a neighborhood by providing a home for everything from recreational programs to seminars and workshops in the future. As neighborhoods become more diverse in our community, it's important that we provide a place where people can meet face to face, learn each others names, occupations, talents and make constructive relationships. Our neighborhood schools are ideal places for these kinds of activities. The Neighborhood Resource Centers are a start.
