Nathan Till Honored at Dubuque Community School District Board Meeting

hat a great face! Nathan Till's face was the symbol of recent Local Option Sales Tax campaign to help schools in our city and county. He's a student at Prescott Early Childhood Center, one of the oldest school buildings in Dubuque, and a building in bad need of the revenue such a sales tax will provide. "He was our poster boy for the Support Our Schools Committee," says Board member, Tom Barton (center). "He not only put a face on this campaign, but I truly believe he was our good luck charm."

In appreciation of his contribution, Nathan and his family were presented with a framed portrait of Nathan, and Nathan received a set of Legos much to his delight. Nathan's principal from Prescott, Nan Welch, is on the far left in the photograph which was taken by Gary Olsen of the District. Gary also took the photo of Nathan for the campaign. "Nan was instrumental in securing Nathan's services for this campaign." explains Olsen. "In my words she's "Nantastic," exclaims Olsen.

Nathan's photo was featured on direct mail pieces, postcards, and yard signs, over 1,000 of which dotted front yards throughout the city.

The 1% Local Option Sales Tax measure for school infrastructure passed by nearly 52% of the vote. Lord knows what the results would have been if Nathan hadn't participated.
