New Middle School Construction Site Photos

Taken by Buildings and Grounds' Jim Brimmer

Posted July 30, 2004

his is a wonderful photo collection taken by Buildings & Grounds' Jim Brimmer with his Sony Mavica camera. The pictures show, in almost a time-lapse format, the construction site from farmstead to major construction.

The project began within days of the ground breaking ceremony, and the construction company began preparing the site relatively quickly. The last frame below was taken the last week of July. More photos are taken daily and we'll add them to this collection, and a movie is being produced that will be released this fall or sooner.

The total cost of the facility will approach nearly $30 million when you add all associated costs of the project such as desks, chairs, lab and multimedia equipment.

The farmland on which the school is being built was purchased from the Siegert family, Joe, and Ruth, who not only raised corn and cattle on the land in their prime years, but raised a lovely family. Children and grandchildren were on hand to witness the historic ground breaking event held this spring and even donned hard hats and turned a shovel of earth to commemorate this event.

The project's architect is Durrant Group and the construction company is Miron Construction Company.
