t's called Cheesy Chili Cornbread and it's an simple dish packed with protein and plenty of macro- and micro-nutrients. The dish featured in this, the second episode of Season 6, is part of a series of internationally inspired dishes that our executive chef, Jim Terry, has assembled to create a taste adventure for young pallets.

"Children need to be challenged when it comes to taste and texture of dishes," explains Jim. "I must admit that I didn't start becoming adventurous when it came to food until I was in my 20s. But that's no excuse. I want to push these students to at least try some new things and perhaps they will have a moment that will change their lives forever."

Naturally when kids are up to their elbows in preparing a meal, they become somewhat emotionally vested in the outcome, and they are less likely to refuse even a taste. That's the secret of our success on Kids in the Kitchen, and you can utilize this approach with your own young people. We can't guarantee complete success, but because you're making a delicious dish, somebody will eat it.
